Of Bead And Stone
The Of Bead and Stone series is a play on the phrase “Of Blood and Bone,” often used to signify deep connection and a shared essence. This body of work explores the relationship between past and present, connecting the essence of old and new. Repurposed frames—sourced from estate sales, antique stores, and forgotten spaces—are given renewed life through layers of semi-precious stones, beads, and paint.
Each piece evolves through an intuitive, organic process. Beadwork spreads across the surface like living matter, echoing patterns found in nature—growth, erosion, and quiet transformation. What was once static becomes dynamic; what was once overlooked becomes intricate and luminous.
In this series, the frame is not simply a boundary but a collaborator—holding history while embracing change. The work honors the stories embedded in these objects while reimagining their future, creating a visual language that speaks to resilience, renewal, and the enduring thread that binds all things together.
